Music Monday: City Melancholy

*It's already Monday where I am! So Music Monday!*

Sorry sorry sorry for not posting for so long! Spring break happened, and then the new quarter, and a new novel I've been working on... However, deep down I know these are no excuses, so here I am, back and ready to give you guys some new music to nurture your starved ears...

Without further ado...

Music Monday: To love

In honor of Valentine's Day being this Friday, this week's Music Monday is dedicated to mixes that celebrate love.

'For those who are in love, who never stopped for love, who never gave up for love, who always hoped for love, who did their best for love, who stood strong for love, who made somebody happy for love, who sacrificed for love, who love to be loved.'

Music Monday: FALL in love

Hi y'all! I'm backkkkkk :D
Okay so quick update before I jump into today's music. Today marks the beginning of the third week of my life as a Northwestern student, and also the second week that I'm sick (yeah, really). I don't want to use it as an excuse for my lack of blogging, but being sick does suck a lot out of me...

Anywaysies, I'm getting better now (hopefully), and I'm back to share some music with y'all! At Northwestern, the temperature just dropped significantly over the weekend, and now leaves are on the ground, red and crispy, the air is chilly, the sky is high and clear... fall is in full swing. And *blushing a little* I'm falling in love.

So, to match the mood:

Happy fall! Enjoy!

Fall playlist, anyone?

I was just digging around in my 8tracks account, and found this easy-listening playlist that I mad last September. I think this could be a great playlist for this fall, too. So just R E L A X and enjoy the wonderful fall weather! :)

And I think the captions of the playlist perfectly describe how you should enjoy it - and life.
"Lay back, stare at the clouds, let sunlight dance on your lashes. Smile. Smile bigger. Smile so big your face hurts."

Music Monday: poignant french song time

Last night I saw a wonderful film called Paris, Je t'aime (you can find my review here). I found two songs in the film extremely moving: Paris Je t'aime by Elisabeth Anais and La Meme Histoire by Feist. Listen to the two songs, and you'll find yourself lost in nostalgia, dreams, and thoughts. Beautiful tunes that remind me of the ever-changing face of Paris, of fate, and of love and life.

http://lyricstranslate.comThe Same Story
This link between us
This elusive thing?
Where are those fates, which are tied
To make us inseparable, going?
Over time
Wherever the wind goes...
Our desires, our loves
We leave without knowing
We're still
In the same story...
This thing which separates us,
Which, by chance, brings us together?
Why so many one-way tickets, so many departures
In this unending circle?
Over time
Wherever the wind goes...thus...
Our desires, our loves
We leave without knowing
We're still
In the same story...
The same story...
Our desires, our loves
We leave without knowing
We're still
In the same story...
The same story...

But what is
We move forward
We live day by day
But what is
We move forward
We live day by day
We live day by day

Music Monday: what about choir

Hi y'all, for today's Music Monday I want to do something different. In the past I've always introduced playlists or songs that reflect my mood. Today I feel like doing a completely different genre - choir!

Personally I have been in choir in and out for more than ten years. Here's a picture of me in World Choir Games (the equivalent of Olympics in the choir world) back in the summer of 2008. My middle school's entire choir made a trip to Graz, Austria just for the Games! In fact I was back in Graz just a few days ago to revisit the good memories. (And that is another story, which I will blog about soon.)

Anyway, so now you know that choir is of great significance to me, and whenever I come across a good choir on Youtube or in real life I just get these inexplicable feelings. Sometimes I even burst into tears (yes, I realize how crazy that sounds). Today I want to introduce this one especially amazing group from Europe, Scala & Kolacny Brothers. I first heard one of their songs in a random playlist on 8tracks, and I was all aslfljkadsfsglshg;djafhsg;ad. (Sorry for my lack of words.) So then I dug them up on the Internet and found out that they were coming out with a Christmas album! It was November last year, and when the album came in December it was one of the best things my ears ever heard.

And now, without further ado:

Enjoy!

Now that it's actually Monday (Beijing time)...

I can finally share with you my latest love on 8tracks. This playlist is truly a precious gem of love songs, both heartwarming and heartbreaking. Amazing for sleeping, stargazing, and just sitting by the window on a rainy day and thinking.

Art in music?

Hi y'all! I was on 8tracks the other day, and I stumbled across this song.

As you can already see, it's a song that is full of Van Gogh references! Van Gogh lovers will devour this song, I'm sure of that! Plus it's just a beautiful song too!

Enjoy! :)

Emeli Sande - Wonder

Just something to lighten your mood today :)  I've been dancing to this song all week. It's so uplifting. Go check out the rest of her album, Our Version of Events. It's just as gorgeous.

Music Monday: Oscars special

Let me just start by saying that last night's Oscars was AH-MAZING. Seriously, when Jennifer Lawrence went up (and fell once on the way--very typical her) for her Best Actress Oscar, I  thought I was gonna start bawling. Oh well, I did tear up a little bit. It's just...I have no words for it.

Anyways, the many performances last night simply blew my mind, but what shook me the most is the Les Mis live performance featuring Anne Hathaway, Hugh Jackman, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, etc. The cast combined many of the movies best songs into one "medley," which turned out spectacular. I just want to say, well done, guys, for being so great LIVE.

Without further ado:
Enjoy. Allow yourself to be overwhelemed (oh I'm sure you will be).

xx

P.S. I just thought this is pretty hilarious, so:
Let's just end by saying JLaw is the boss.
